Sounds like the worst possible time for Australia with the worst possible government signing it.

Come on people, Andrew Robb is going to be signing us up to the TPP very shortly, so you'll have to learn to love it.
Have a read of this, I'm sure it will allay all your fears- https://ustr.gov/tpp

I have to go now, I have more ironing to do....

Ironing eh?
:)

I am thinking of putting my ironing board out on the side of the road with a rude sign on it ... as in

#PutYourIroningBoardsOut .
:)

but I'd miss it as my adjustable "desk / bedside table"

Still, I might have to make the sacrifice for a good cause.

Greetings to you one and all ... and this ... reading sustains me.

If it needs ironing, don't buy it. :)

It's funny how quickly ironing has become a rare thing.

I remember my mother spending hours every evening. She'd do the ironing while we watched the box. Then "wash 'n' wear" came in. My grandmother still irons everything including sheets, socks, and bras (!). My kids have only ever seen the iron in use when Mrs T is sewing or I've had a job interview.

Haha jj, your idea is funny, but I can't put my ironing board out the front as I don't want to upset the home that the Daddy Long Legs have made around it. (must read what TPP is)

If you go to DFAT's website, you can read more about the Trans Pacific Partnership.
http://dfat.gov.au/trade/agreements/tpp/Pages/trans-pacific-partnership-agreement-tpp.aspx

It includes this gem-
By setting commonly agreed rules and promoting transparency of new laws and regulations, the agreement will provide certainty for businesses and reduce costs and red tape for Australian exporters, service suppliers and investors.

Australia's decision to participate in the TPP in 2008 followed an extensive public consultation process. Overall, there was widespread support for Australia's participation in the TPP.

Ummm. Transparency? Extensive consultation process? Widespread support?

There is also a submissions page- http://dfat.gov.au/trade/agreements/tpp/submissions/Pages/submissions.aspx , where they invite public submissions and comment. It's worth reading some of the submissions they have on there. Both who has made submissions, and what they have submitted.

For those who don't want to go to the page, but may like to send them your comments or submissions, I have copied the relevant bit-

Submissions may be emailed to tpp@dfat.gov.au or posted by mail to:

Goods and Investment Branch
Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade
R.G. Casey Building
John McEwen Crescent
Barton ACT 0221
