...is on from 17 to 23 October.

You can sign up here: Aussie Backyard Bird Count

I'll probably be on the road during that time, so I'm hoping for some interesting sightings.

Thanks for that heads-up, Helix.
I have done it before and liked how it sharpened my awareness.
Bush here is tops at present; lots in bloom after a wet winter.
Erica is in full bloom so breaking off the blooms before it seeds has overtaken grubbing out, though have done a lot of that.

Good luck on your road trip .. am hoping to get away for a few days next week myself. Also this with H

"Tiliqua Lizard Crawl

Sunday 11 September, 11 am to 3 pm
At Tiliqua Nature Reserve, 10 km NW of Burra, volunteers (including families and children) can be involved in 'citizen science' activities to assist ongoing research into the conservation of the endangered pygmy bluetongue lizard."

Though a lot of "work" to actually get away (and back) it is always rejuvenating.

CFS team here with truck today to check my big tank's fittings for being an official water source in an emergency.
I'd love the little g'kids to be here, but it doesn't work ... so wont have them as an excuse to sticky beak.
