Why Americans persist with calling all insects bugs?

Aren't they beautiful?

I just love insects.

(and birds ... and ...:) )

On my last bush trip I saw another Mitchell's Cockroach (that's 3 in how many years?!) and a Domino Robber Bee ... a first for me, though common enough, it seems.

Another bonus was finally collecting some seed of plants I have wanted to try propagating ... still waiting for the G juncifolia to ripen though.
Each was worth the trip.
Can't imagine how people finding a new species must feel
:)

HNY to you all.
